According to Business Tody, "Putting a lot of effort for no or little result" is called The Mickey Mouse Effect.Whereas there is some other theory about Darth Vader and Mickey Mouse effect in playback.The BT story gave an elaborate explanation of how the origin of the term comes from the early Mickey Mouse movies in which the character used to try a lot to get Minnie but never managed.
