Homecoming

Man. United are having preliminary talks to get David Beckham back into the fold. This leaves Sir Alex Ferguson's future unclear. Becks has been a great force with Man.United and should be back with the team, for good. Today's loss to Liverpool is going to sting Roy Keane badly and might just hasten the filling up of the vacant quality mid-fielder's spot to be filled back by Becks sooner than expected. There is talk of Roman Abramovich interested in Becks. But, I am sure he will not play for any other English team.

Realising potential?

Steve Slater has been saying this for 3-4 years now - Jenson Button is champion material. This year, he seems to be proving his vast potential.

Young heirs

The young heirs,all dynasty talk notwithstanding,do seem to be good and well informed.The Milind Deoras,Akhilesh Yadavs,Rahul and Priyanka G,Sandeep Dikshits,Jyotiraditya Scindias are much better informed than the Moushmi Chatterjees,Dharmendras,Shatrughan Sinhas(how has he survived till now??) about what plagues the country and what can they do to address the situation.

Moral Right

I am probably living in a Utopian world to feel about it this way.If the Courts have shifted a case to Mumbai,what right does the Govt. have to remain in power?If they cannot assure this basic security and mind you this is the Govt.'s job, why isn't the Govt. sacked?I see no reason why we should accept this as just another ruling.It's as bad an indictment as that of Mrs.

Congress

If you have noticed,Congress has fielded some candidates who generally don't fight LS elections like Pranab Mukherjee and Jaipal Reddy (who used to find the back door entry of an RS seat a more assured way of winning).Is this fear of running out of any more safe seats in the future or will this get INC some seats which could have proved iffy without these big names.Time will tell.

Distortions??

Saw The Patriot yesterday.Lord Cornwallis who was made out to be such a comic character in The Sword of Tipu Sultan was portrayed as a brilliant war general in this movie.This made me google about him and I realised that just like any other brit/pakistani in indian movies/serials he has been unnecessarily shown in poor light.No wonder,people have such view about our neighbours in Pakistan,obviously misinformed by movies like Gadar and The Hero.

Just saw the 3-0 shock defeat of Real Madrid.Real M really made a huge mistake in letting off so many good players,albeit on loan.The worst part was they allowed all these players to play against them.This is foolish.At this level,the guys who draw the contracts are expected to take care of all situations and such an occasion should never have arisen.Just have a look at the players who have destroyed their season in the last week - Morientes in Champions League-both home and away and V

Cricket

Rahul Dravid needs to take over as the Captain of India.I had been saying this from a long time but the captaincy shown by RD in these two Tests has proved what I have been advocating for a long time now.Some might argue that Sourav 'built' the team - No doubt about that.Sourav G was responsible for hauling the team from being ranked 8/9 in the world to a respectable 3/4 (Aus,S.Africa and England are ahead of us,on form atleast - India would have to play these teams and beat them to pro
