Ashes to Ashes

Slowly but surely, Ashes mania is taking over.I am religiously following all the articles and columns in the English media every day, only to get absorbed into the media frenzy that this Ashes tour is generating.

The one thought that is underlying all the articles and which I agree with is that this England team is at least not guaranteed to surrender to the Aussies.But is this enough to bet all your money on the Poms winning the Ashes back? I don't know.

Bradman

Everyone talks about how it was an unsporting way to attack the Aussies. Jardine had devised this ploy to specifically stem the flow of runs off Bradman�s blade. The Don was injured and didn�t play the first Test. He knew what was in store for him in the second Test.

Return of Sanity

Normalcy has been restored to my life from today. After shifting to our new flat on Aundh Road, I can watch The Ashes and The US Open because I am being 'serviced' by the Hathway Cable guys.An added bonus for others at home is two more Telugu channels, besides the ubiquitous E TV - Gemini and Teja.

Yesterday night, Gitanjali was being screened on E TV and I managed to watch a couple of songs - it is one of the few love stories, to add to it - a tragedy, that I have liked.

Dad - SJ ain't as pure as you would want them to be

I am presently hooked on to a variety of music on the iPOD- from Elvis to Pt. Jasraj to Pt. Nikhil Bannerjee to The Beatles.

I have just noted that 'I want to hold your hand' by The Beatles reminds me of some Shankar Jaikishan song - cannot place it.This just gives me more ammo in my daily argument with my father - a Pancham vs. SJ one.
