The BRIC report on Cricket

The BRIC report suggests that in the next 20 years, Brazil, Russia, India and China are going to form a new power block. These economies are going to be the fastest growing economies which will overtake the world's developed economies in terms of absolute size. One of the prime reasons for this being that the population of these four countries is nearly half of the total world population and you just cannot ignore volumes of such scale.

A similar evaluation of the cricketing world can be done to analyse which are the teams that are going to powerful over the next few years. Here goes my analysis.

Australia - the US of cricket. The Big Brother. They are at the top and will remain so for some time. Every other country is trying to learn from Australia.

I might be going overboard with the criticism here. When Rahul Dravid talked of Irfan Pathan's promotion to No. 3 being Sachin Tendulkar's idea, I was not surprised. I had already noted how he had used Pathan's batting in a match which ideally should have been used for his own batting practice. Tendulkar, however, decided to showcase his tactics rather than his batting skills in this Duleep Trophy match.

Items, news items that is, like these make me wonder what is BCCL peddling here? Some people might say that even TOI has become more of a blog(It took me some time to recover after reading this comment)!

The first three sentences are irrefutable facts. The next sentence, ironically, speaks of a "fact" but is actually an unqualified opinion - this is where the article slips into sensationalism.
